SHOW 2020!

The school shows will take place this year at the FARRER THEATRE, ETON COLLEGE on

Although all the details are yet to be fully decided below is all the information we have for you at this time.  Updates will be communicated to you throughout the process and PLEASE always check the website, Instagram and Facebook for updates.

All costumes will be provided by the school for all dances – they are never the property of the student nor are they taken home at any time.  There is a costume HIRE charge – this covers the hire of all the costs involved in adjustments and preparation to be ready for the performance and also covers the costs of any laundering after the show.

The charge is £25 for the first costume and £8.50 for any additional costume.

ie. 1 class (genre) £25  2 classes (genres) £33.50   3 classes (genres) £42 and so on (eg a child in ballet, tap and modern would pay £42)

If you are unsure how much you should be paying please contact the office.

Payment can be made by cheque, cash or by BACS into SORT CODE 30-99-72 ACCOUNT NO 19824260 (N.B. NOT THE USUAL FEE ACCOUNT) and marked CLEARLY with your child’s name.

JUNIOR BALLET (Music & Movement – Grade 3 Classes) – Peter & the Wolf

SENIOR BALLET (Grade 4+) – A Midsummer Night’s Dream

TAP MODERN & CONTEMPORARY – 100 Years of Dance and Beyond

ICKENHAM BRANCH – Scenes from Mary Poppins

We are planning to have two shows on Saturday 18th and one on Sunday 19th July.

Tickets for the performances will go on sale after the Easter Break and will be £19.50 (no concessions) (the show is not suitable for children under the age of 2).

We try to limit the extra rehearsal dates and do the majority of the choreography in the normal class times. However nearer the show dates we need to bring the dances together which will involve extra rehearsals.  Currently, Saturday 4th July (afternoon) and Sunday 5th JULY (all day) are booked for these extra ones.  More details of specific times will be sent later this term.

Any child with a main part in either the Junior or Senior Ballets may also be asked to attend other classes to rehearse with other groups; again these rehearsals will be posted as soon as possible.

During the week of the show, rehearsals will take place in the theatre for Modern, Tap and Contemporary on Thursday 16th July and for the two Ballets on Friday 17th July – specific times to be advised but it will be after school hours.  THERE WILL ALSO BE PHOTOGRAPH DAYS / EVENINGS for professional pictures in costumes to be taken.

I must stress that attendance at all the rehearsals and classes is vital. This is not only for your child, but for the other pupils and the teachers as well. It is extremely hard to choreograph and learn dances when there are missing pupils and gaps required to be left.  I would be grateful if you would arrange birthday parties and outings around ballet classes. It is a mammoth task producing these shows and newer children will find that going on stage is very different from dancing in a studio.  It is so important that each child feels confident in their part and be fully prepared to go on stage. If you feel that you are unable to commit to these dates and requests please inform the office by return.

With many thanks for your co-operation.
